During a flight from Hong Kong to Chinese City Dalian, a co-pilot aboard an Air China flight nearly caused an emergency landing because of making a very ignorant decision, to vape on an airplane. Not only is it illegal to do so, because the co-pilot wanted to hide the vapor, he turned off the AC on board mistaking it for a fan that would blow the favor into the passenger section.
The moment the AC was shut off, the plane started to lose cabin pressure, forcing the crew to begin an emergency descent. All passengers were then notified to put on their seatbelts along with the oxygen masks that have dropped down from above.
Authorities are still investigating the incident to determine what, if any, disciplinary action they’ll take against the pilot. Chinese regulations prevent all flight crews from smoking, and passengers have been banned from using e-cigs since 2006.
